These are items that we need to have resolved soon ... VERY SOON! Most of this is just information passing and falls under my own responsibility, but I want to give a status of where we are at the moment.
#1: The Guild Move
So far the top two contenders seem to be Naboo and Tatooine. I am loathe to move to either of them as prime locations have LONG since been taken up. We’ll be trying to fight for elbow room against guilds and cities well established. Sure, we could move to a player city, but I have yet to see or hear of one that matches LoM’s ideals. Keep looking though, I’m ALWAYS open to suggestions.
I know most of you (maybe all of you) wish to be near some hub (like Coronet) and the crowds of masses. I’m the opposite. I’d rather be out of the way away from the rest of the populous of these worlds. If it was up to me, we’d be on Yavin or Dathomir in a far flung corner ... if only we had more people for a self containing hunting groups, vendors, and resources.
So, how about a compromise? If Dantooine is not ideal for folks, how about Talus? It’s still one jump from Coronet (like Dantooine) but the cost is only 700 credits as compared to 1,300 credits. From what I have seen it has a very strong Imperial presence (PC and NPC). And (unless things have changed) it is possible to solo hunt ... I did with the single bare skill of Novice Pistoleer some time back. Lastly, when I did travel to Talus, there was a lot of traffic there. More than I ever assumed at least. Of course a recon update would be important, but I seem to remember that it was on the order of Dantooine ... at least one of the outposts was.
For now, I keep thinking about how I like Dantooine. True, it may not be the ideal hunting ground anymore, and yes, it’s expensive to travel there, but look at our Prime location. Do you think we’ll ever get to be so close to a major hub anywhere else? Okay, it’s not Theed or Coronet, but it’s better than we hope to get as far as location goes. It’s 600m from a starport and an Imperial base. It’s in a relative safe location and if we start creating and stocking vendors, I think we’ll find that they are used ... after some advertisement.
#2: Promotion
Captain Aja and Captain Shayla are still neck and neck in this promotion race. Sorry you two but you both have very important and outstanding strengths and weaknesses that we cannot over look. As Colonel Kodoss and I talked about, it’s like we wish we could cut you both in half and make a Shaja character.
Even Colonel Kodoss and I differ who we think makes the slightly better candidate. (No, I’m not saying who is who). It’s like 49.99% for one and 50.01% for another. Not enough to make either of us feel comfortable in a decision at the moment.
One of you needs to mess up so we can promote the other one! LOL! Just kidding of course. I’d love to promote you both, but that’s not possible. I’d love to just pick one of you and have it done, but the one that’s picked must be what’s best for the LoM. Too many times in the past I have been in a guild where someone was picked too rashly and we regretted it. That won’t happen this time. Then again, we can’t dawdle either.
Mind you, just because one of you gets promoted does not mean that you’re the better person. It means you’re the better Lieutenant Colonel. Considering that there is no extra pay or company car that comes with it, neither of you should feel slighted in whatever the outcome ends up being. Nor should someone get to cocky ... it is a game after all.
Keep up the good work and we’ll resolve this soon.
#3: Web Page
The web page will be updated soon. Sorry, but I got Deus Ex: Invisible War and until I beat that at work, the web page will be on hold. Aye, I’m addicted. =P If I could play SWG at work, I’d do that but I can’t ... so there! Hehe
The biggest new thing that I am working on is a Pictures/Screenshot section. Plus a few other minor changes (like updating the Applicant Reply Letter).
#4: SBUs
These will also be don ASAP ... after Deus Ex. I will get to them, I promise. Right now I think it’s Thorsen and Chalrhynn that need one. With Kidio and Sharee most likely needing one very soon as well.
#5: Professions (or why I hate Holocrons)
First of all let me say that I will NEVER tell someone how to play a game ... in regards to what race, class, etc. It is important that we play this game to have fun. But let me tell you that these Holocrons are killing me. My former favorite weaponsmiths have become chefs, while hunting parties are now Entertainers and Droid Engineers, and so on. I’m all for learning as much about the game as one can, but some things go too far.
Hey, I’ve changed my mind, too. I was supposed to be a Squad Leader, but the Survival XP pissed me off. Then I switched to Pistoleer and Medic. Well, a couple of others went Medic and because I can’t have any harvesters and whatnot I moved to Commando. (I figured that I’d just earn cash via combat since I can’t farm resources). Well, for whatever reason, I decided that Smuggler was more fitting for me to go with my Pistioleer skills so now I’ll be dropping commando for smuggler. (I also got very lucky with my first Holocron ... it told me to go Master Smuggler after I was already on the way).
Besides the Pistoleer/Smuggler combination for combat, I am hoping that it’ll be a way to earn cash. (I remind you that I cannon use harvesters because the PA Hall takes up 9 of my 10 authorized lots).
So, what’s my eventual point in this rant?
First of all we are too small of a guild to just be jumping from class to class. On top of that, those of us who wish to be Dark Jedi some day HAVE to bounce from class to class. We’re in a conundrum.
One thing is for certain, we NEED at least one active Doctor ... two would be nice. We also need at least one more combat specialist besides Kodoss. In this we could better form guild hunting groups with those of us who are hybrids and non-combatants. (Aja and Chalrhynn are moving up this path I think). This is no slight against you merchant types ... i.e. Thorsen. We need you as well. In fact, one thing I admire about Thorsen is that he’s picked a profession and he’s sticking with it!
At one time we had three people striving to be a Doctor, now we have none. And everyone’s excuse has been the same (mine included) - ‘I thought {insert name here} was doing it do I quit..’ We need better communication so that we can all play to have fun and full a valued role in Legion of Myth.
Once again, if you want to play a new class, feel free - we will never discourage you from having fun in that manner. There are no prohibitions on class (except the special rules for Smuggler and Jedi) and we know that every profession is needed and wanted. However, if you feel like to need a change of profession, please look at what the guild has and what it needs.
- We will do mush better as a guild if we kill in gaps where needed - as opposed to the next profession craze or holocron.
- Communicate with each other before we drop classes because we think someone else may have it.
- Filling out and updating your character info on the Message Board is a PERFECT way to keep everyone updated.
#6: Vendor
I just got done talking about Doctors and Combatants, now it’s time for me to say that we need some Vendors.
I know this potential move puts some of this in limbo, but we sure could use some vendors sooner rather than later. I for one have Spices I can sell ... and with Aja making Droids and Shayla making weapons, they’ll need a place to sell their goods as well.
Let’s get a couple of vendors near the PA Hall and let Thorsen work his Merchant magic. If we lose the vendors in the future (due to a move) I’ll pay for new ones.
I know this was a long post, but I wanted to let everyone know where we stand at the moment. You all are doing an excellent job!! As always ... RECRUIT ... RECRUIT ... RECRUIT!!
