i'm here in Vegas now, things are going quite well.
if you get a chance, come to Tatooine and check out the city. The mayor is Styxx. She's very pleasant, and might be interested in giving us a whole city block so our buildings can be close together.
might be worth looking into.
as for it getting overrun... it could happen. will it? the place isn't a secret by any means. i see rebels in and out of here once in a while. in fact i believe a few are even residents, but they seem to keep to themselves as far as i can tell.
but at least check it out.

here is more info about Mos Vegas:
Rank 4 79 Citizens (6 away from Rank 5) Most Public Buildings Available Imperial (85-90% I'd say) 0% income tax 20% property tax 10% sales tax 1 Imperial Detachment HQ 1 Imperial Tactical HQ 1 Imperial Medical Center 1 Imperial Outpost Mayor: Styxx Planet: Tatooine
I think it could use a good roleplaying group to move in and maybe bring some people together. Remember, just because Styxx is mayor now... doesn't mean she can't eventually be voted out of office if we are unhappy with her performance. All citizens can vote, and all citizens can run for office at anytime.

So my question, before I move my permenat operation to Tatooine, how is the market? I'd hate to have to fly all over the galaxy to sell my products.
I guess I'll go pop some stuff on the bazaar and test the waters.
My next question, Hows the harvesting? I suppose I can check this myself as well, but how is the long term? I don't care about having harvesters close to my factories and house, but would like them on the same planet.

yup, i'll move again i suppose when you all finally decide what player town you want to move into, but i just wanted to get off Dant since there is nothing there for me. Though, if we stay on Dant, i probably will not resettle there since i already know i will not like it there.
and yes, the market at Bestine is fine... i sell all 25 of my market slots each day (unless i'm trying to sell crappy resources)
Btw, Mos Vegas is a good town, period. Not much arguement about it unless you think you don't like Tatooine or don't like the name of the town.
but whenever you all settle somewhere, just let me know.

Okay, this whole thing about moving is getting out of hand. As of right now we are not going anywhere. (Unless Col Kodoss has made the decision to move us while I'm away). I really don't care where people have their secondary houses and harvesters and such. However, for the sake of unity and teamwork, those of us with houses are to have it (at least the primary one) with the guild ... which is on Dantooine. The idea to move was brought up some time ago, but no one ever said that we were going to move. I hear that Mos Vegas is a good place, but here are my issues: ~ The name. It is not in the spirit of the lore except to think they are cute. It's retarded - The only thing more retarded than Mos Vegas is Mos Quitto. ~ It's not 100% Imperial (or Neutral). Rebels are our enemies. Rebel sympathizers are our enemies. ~ Much like buying a car, I'm not just going to jump on the first city we find ... Aja, I think our experience in Forrest Village should be a good lesson there. Let's scout out a few other cities and compare. ~ What is wrong with our current location? It's close to a starport, it's next to various resources, the hunting is great, it's one hop from Corellia.

[glow=red,2,300]Problems with Dantooine[/glow]: 1. Remoteness-Though only one jump from Corellia (an apparent Rebel stronghold) it is far from the more popular hunting areas, like Naboo and Tatooine. 2. Cost-Though only one jump from Corellia, and it usually costs about 800 credits for a ticket from other planets to Corellia it costs 1300 credits from Corellia to Dantooine. For a round trip from Tatooine to Dantooine and back it costs almost 4000 credits. 3. Markets-The market for selling goods on the Bazaar on Dantooine is slim at best, probably because of the remoteness. In order to maintain houses, extractors, etc we need money, which means going to other markets and incurring the above mentioned costs of travel.
[glow=red,2,300]Problems with Mos Vegas[/glow]: 1. Name-Silly, yes. 2. Location-Far from the majority of cities on Tatooine, plus there are PC Rebel outposts/cities sprouting up around it. 3.Vulnerability-Recently I had the opportunity to be caught in a PC Rebel raid on Mos Vegas, and though the Imperial assets protecting it are impressive, they are not placed in such a manner as to allow mutual protection and assistance in the event of an attack, nor do they provide all around protection.
[glow=red,2,300]Recommendations[/glow]: We need to move; Dantooine is too remote and too far out of the way of the mainstream of the Galaxy to attract potential recruits and actively participate in the Galaxy. Do we need to move to Mos Vegas? No, but somewhere either on Tatooine or Naboo with allies currently being courted by Shayla, Yes. This is an issue that needs to be addressed, but for now Dantooine will be our primary AOR. (and yes, my primary residence is on Dantooine.)

mos vegas too far? it has a shuttle port.
well, i'll make this really easy for anyone who is looking for a city.
go to a planet.
use the big map.
select the Imperial menu
see if there are any bases on that planet (which signifies a player imperial presense--people putting player bases down)
there are 5 on Tat, all near Mos Vegas (when i checked a week ago)
other main planets (Naboo, Corellia) had none.
Dant i believe had 2 Detach Headquarters right next to eachother, but u guys are the Dantooine experts, so perhaps you all can check it out.
I only checked Tat, Dant, Corellia, and Naboo. But, like i said that was a week ago, so perhaps you all can recheck.
But keep this in mind:
Mos Vegas is a city. Rebels are (in terms of lore and being realistic) in hiding. Just because we as players see them as blue dots doesn't indicate that our avatars should recognize this for the sake of role-playing. Any city should have some sort of rebel presence, or they wouldn't be doing a very good job as rebels by infiltrating our areas. Mos Vegas has a very small resident rebel presence, but yes, its raided a lot. Why? 4 bases.
that's my view on the need for a 100% imperial city.

Greetings everyone, excuse me i ll make it short. - to get to dantooine is expensive, i agree. 2600 credits for a ticket there and back is much money - i hate that i always have to shoot 3 - 4 red con mobs that farm my harvesters, i can deal with it, but it s not newbie friendly. - Dantooine was a hotspot , but you see less and less people the last weeks. - Dantooine is too clustered, no big flat areas to put harvesters down. - With all respect General, you will not find a city that is 1.Imperial only and 2.Has a name that fits the spirit of the lore (Mos quitto lol, that really is retarded) and 3.is close to a major hub. In a mmorpg you have to sacrifice some ideals in favor of gameplay, the old rp vs gameplay dilemma i think. I dont like Mos Vegas either though, my first experience with that town was my encounter with shayla and allandhra , where we were nearly alone defending the turrets. Heck where were the residents? At the moment my favorite candidate is Vagabonds Rest. - founded by RP ers - biggest city on starsider (it s unbelievable big ) - close to theed - has much flat area - has a city militia - some imperial guilds there with detachment hq , so there s access to mission terminals. Everyone who didnt visit VR yet, do it please and tell me what your impression is. Website www.vagabondsrest.comI am going to find out more about what guilds are there and what kind of people live there. I dont really want to move though till the general is back, he has the last word on this decision. /salute

VR would have been a great place to go, but it looks like VR is about to become a non-entity; site's been shut down, and it looks like the guild is in the process of tearing itself apart .

allandhra,
you re damn right. Please forget Vagabonds Rest. They have a new website, (vagabondsrest.net) and the town looks still impressive , but i am worried that 1. I didnt find one useful vendor 2. the vendors were all almost empty 3.people i ve met there said VR is going down the drain.
Sigh lets look for another spot hehe.

Mos Vegas itself lately has fluxuated. i think its due to the recent increase in player cities allowed. perhaps after the dust settles we'll have a better idea of what cities will prove most fruitful.

Hey folks, you've all been posting good info, and although I disagree with some aspects I must (and will) take all points into consideration.
Personally, I do prefer Naboo to Tatooine, but I will not say 'yes' or 'no' simply because I prefer lush green ro nasty sand in my boots. =P
In any case, none of this is falling on deaf ears and when I come back I will make our move a priority issue and use all the info you've posted.
I know it's hard to remember this with the type of people that are on the server, Starsider is 'supposed to be' the (unofficial) Roleplay server. There are roleplayers out there so please don't dump the notion of RP/Lore as a criteria.
I'm much more concerned about Lore breaking than with true Roleplaying. For example: I will shoot a Rebel if I get the opportunity ... even if he's a member of the city we join. I expect you all to do the same.
