Never shut down your system with the powerbutton if you have Win XP.
Right now i have a little odysee behind me because i did that 2 days ago.
I must say i am not a computer expert and my problem may be a joke for you but i had a hard time making my system work again.
So after i shut down my system 2 days ago wih the powerbutton i tried to login yesterday and all i got was a blue screen with a message i ve never seen before:
Unmountable_boot_volume
Huh?
So i did what the blue screen told me , i restarted because it was the first time i got this.
It didnt help whatever i did , load the minimum driver configuration , load it just with network drivers, load the last working config, bat the computer with a 20 pound hammer, well , forget the last option, but nada.
So i inserted my xp cd and tried to boot the system from it ,nada .
I just couldnt get it to boot from the cd , whatever booting options i set in the bios.
I was fairly pissed off, at this point so i shut the system down and ask for help from one of my collegues who is firm with computers and i asked our system admin from the company i work at.
They both gave me tips , one even had a book about xp with him.
I tried everything they told me at home the day before, but i was prepared this time.
I just couldnt make the damn thing boot from my cd .
Dont laugh please, but if i would have known that i just have to press esc RIGHT after you start your system (normally that skips the Ram counting )and select boot from cd , i d spare me a headache , 20 cigarettes in 3 hours, a broken mouse and a little hole in my appartments west wall .
So thats the little story why i wasnt online yesterday.
NEVER shut down your system with the powerbutton !
