We come from the world of Myth, a world far outside this region of space we travel in now. Our world, our home, now lies as a shattered ruin - a legacy of the savagery of our alien oppressors who systematically destroyed our lives and our world. The history of Myth is one now stained in bloodshed.
To tell you how we came to this part of the galaxy I must start at the beginning – when our world was lush and green.
There was once a time when we humans of Myth ruled ourselves. Our people were a noble, peaceful people lead by a cabal of Force sensitive seers who could sense the future; this greatly helped us fight off famine and disaster. It was a time of harmony and abundance. Some would call it a ‘Golden Age’ of enlightenment and civil bounty.
Oh, sure, in our history we had our occasional despots, and there were battles and war - such is the way with us humans. But they were our wars fought for our causes. And even in war we knew what it meant to be ... Human!
It is said that Rho’jodon, the greatest of all seers, foresaw the coming of beings from a far off land. He said these beings would ‘come to take away the sky and make fires of our flesh. They would remove us from our homes and change our way of life.’ As no other seer ever encountered these visions, our ancestors could not believe these mad tales and ignored the seer.
As the legends go, that morning the sky grew black, cloaked in the silhouettes of our soon to be conquerors. Fire rained down on us from above - we were simple people then, we didn’t know of starships and blasters. Our people tried to mount a defense, but as farmers and learners, not the military people of today, it was futile. In short order we were beaten and a new rule under alien - Outsider - law was formed.
Many years under the rule of the Shi-Tiec’ came and passed. The rule was tyrannical and unjust. We were mere cattle to them, made to slave away so they could grow rich and fat.
In time we discovered other aliens – other Outsiders – invited to our home by the Shi-Tiec’. We pled for help, thinking that soon someone must hear our call. Instead we were further ridiculed and punished not only by the Shi-Tiec’, but the others as well. Through the stories of our tyrannical masters, and our own clandestine experiences, we learned that our fate made them - all Outsiders - intensely overjoyed.
None would come to our aid.
History teaches us that it was humans who created the galaxy that we now know. We humans discovered the stars, we humans perfected the power you call the Force, and we humans were the ones to pave the way for alien usurpers to undermine our trust.
Fate has a way of reveling in irony. After many generations of rule, the Shi-Tiec’ became careless. We began to learn their secrets and their technology. Hope providing us the means that we could use those secrets against our Alien masters.
Finally, a great leader, Larric Shadowchaser, stepped forward and raised an army of rebels to take back what was ours. It was not easy and many lives were lost in the effort; but we would not - could not be stopped.
The war was a long and difficult one, causing great irreparable harm to our world. Harm that our poor world could never recover. In the end it came down to one last push by our army, win or lose we would not live under alien rule any longer. This one battle lasted for weeks, but in the end we were able to gain what we lost long ago, freedom.
Immediately a human government and national army were created; no longer were we simple farmers and laborers. Thanks to the Shi-Tiec’ we were now warriors and spacefarers, too.
Although many wished to bring upon the aliens what they brought upon us - death and torture - cooler minds prevailed and the Shi-Tiec’ and other aliens were allowed to live far away from our cities, but still under our rule.
We thus lived in a time of stressful peace.
Soon we learned the full extent of what the Shi-Tiec’ did to our beloved Myth. Underground resources of minerals and even water were exhausted, our lands were no longer fertile as they once were, and our atmosphere had grown stale. We knew that Myth – and thus us – did not have much time.
It was debated what we should do for quite some time. We tried to use the Shi-Tiec’ technology to replenish the land to no avail. And the last of our seers and warlocks had long since been rooted out by our former masters.
We knew we had to leave. The question was to where would we go? In the end it mattered not. We took the remnants of a couple of the Shi-Tiec’ ships that were individually unsalvageable and produced one ship to send us to the stars. Our vessel may have been an ugly monstrosity of jury-rigged parts and unproven theories, but it had one thing that would ensure our success ... hope.
It was determined that Callandryn Humanis and his Legionnaires would be the ones to venture off of our world. Their expertise in both combat and civilian related fields lent them the most well rounded ability to cope with any challenges to come. Along with his executive officer, Rooks Shatterblade, Callandryn set to getting his unit ready for the journey ahead.
After a successful launch we entered the blackness of space. Following the instructions given to us by the Shi-Tiec’, and confirmed by our learners, we plotted a course to hyperspace. The stars seemed to fold in on themselves and expand in all directions at the same time – our bodies felt the same.
Then came the sound that could only be that of shattered hope, followed by the ship starting to slowly fall apart. Try as we may we could not turn this hyperspace off. For a period of time I cannot recount, we traveled through this eerie hyperspace phenomenon, finally coming returning to normal space to find ourselves face to face with another world.
Assessing the damage of our ship we knew that it would never enter hyperspace again. We would never see home again for surely we could not return in time to find life.
Enter the Empire!
It took us little time to learn of the factions and politics of this strange section of space. And once we knew who the players were, our choice was clear.
The Empire’s order, efficiency and human-centric beliefs work hand in hand with our new way of life. We may never see Myth again, but never again will we have to suffer alien rule! From now on peace and order through the Galaxy will be in the Empire’s name! And the Legion of Myth will be at the forefront of every battle fighting for other humans to share in the freedom that we have - freedom from alien interference!
Once again we humans have proved the universal truth; only we are fit to rule.
