Well for me SWG is the front runner, but other games are coming out that may beat it.
SWG is fun but I get so much lag its hard for me to get into the cities.

better than AC1 or AC2... I'd recommend it, though I can certainly see why some people are turned off by it. There's a bit of a learning curve and the manuals suck--even the strategy guides. But after 2 months of steady playing, i think i'm poking along rather well i suppose. graphics aren't the greatest (AC2 graphics are far superior) but playability definitely wins out. One thing i like the most is that there is sooo much to do and a lot of variation in your character design / physical and skill-wise. well, hope that helps. check out some sponsored fan sites for more info

Aemon! Long time no see! How have you been?
Wow, should you play SWG? That's a tough decision. Would I play it over Shadowbane? Yeah. hehe
For a short time I lost a lot of interest in SWG, but in the last couple of weeks it has come back.
The skill and crafting system is excellent, along with the character customization system. As Lt Aja said, there is a learning curve, but it's not that bad. Col Kedry makes a great point, too ... what kind of system are you running? A good computer and graphics card is desireable.
The community is the same as every other game ... okay, not as bad as Shadowbane. Most people are good (or indifferent) with some bad apple mixed in. Of course you know me, I'd hope for more roleplayers, but I think we have struck an excellent balance between roleplaying, Lore and having fun.
I wish I could tell you to run out and buy the game, but with so many others coming out soon I'd hate for you to buy it just to leave it two months later. I have a list of games I'll be trying (starting with Horizons) ... and until one beats SWG, I'm here. On the same token, if a game does beat SWG, then I'll move on to that.
I would love to have you in LoM and I do think that SWG is a good game. If you are looking for a game to play and if I had to give you a direct answer, I'd say 'Yes, get it and join LoM' ;D If your pretty content with what you're doing now and are just looking for a sideline distraction, I'd say 'No, wait for World of Warcraft and join LoM-WoW'.
Well, I gotta go work now. Bleh.
Nice hearing from you Aemon! Hope to see you around here more often.
/General Callandryn, out.

Alright,
I'm headed in. Well sorta, I've bought the game, now just a matter of setting up and downloading patches (shudders). At any rate, I need to start in on my homework. I see there are several good info sites listed here so that's what I'll be hitting first.
Merchant is whats appealing to me now (always has, always will) so if any of you folks have any tidbits of info feel free to throw them out.

I cannot claim to be knowledgeable about the Merchant profession, but if you need anything in-game let me know. I'll help you out the best I can. Here's a good site checking on skills and such: swgcb.yogn.net/swg-cb.php?prof_id=1. Thanks Kodoss for this. I use the site quite often when I want to check certain professions out and how it'll affect me in the game.

Aemon!
Man , nice to have you here.
If you have any questions , ask me .
I am playing every day so i know a bit about this game.
Like the others said , you get overwhelmed from all the options you have at first but with playing comes experience and you have people you can ask. There are many many things not covered in the ingame help system and with the patches things change but we ll be there to help you out. When people ask me what profession should i pick , then i say what do you want to do in the game . I could give you right now some hardcore pvp templates, profession templates that you can earn a lot of money with (the crafting system is the most complex one i ve ever seen) , do you want a combat support character , it s up to you and the good thing is you can always drop a profession and go for another. Like mentioned before the game has flaws as well , but which game doesnt.
Hope to see you soon.
(by the way this is Amon aka Shylock from the old BC boards)

Well, still being abit limited on my game knowledge I'm seriously leaning towards the Scout/Artisan. Just gandering I'm probably taking it up to Ranger/Artisan.
At any rate, in RL duties 6 days a week, going to school 3 days a week, oh, and expecting my second son sometime in early December. I'll be around, just don't plan to see me as much as I'd like

Well hello Aemon. I never met you but here is my opinion on SWG. I have been playing a little over 3 months and I still enjoy running around and getting stomped by something for not paying attetion where I am going. The Graphics are bether then SB and the game play is alot better. With the current patch you can do alot of things that you could do in SB like start a city and manage it (if you are into that) You probable read already by now that you cant start playing as a Jedi but you can quest to become one once you start the game. All in all This is the best on-line game I have played as of yet. I hope this blurb will help.

SERVER: StarsiderAs far as worlds, I go where the winds take me. Our PA Hall is on Dantooine. I spend a lot of time on Theed, Naboo, watching Imperials run away from lone rebels shootin' up the place. (It's so sad ... Imperial Players don't wish to even protect their own major hub.) I can usually be found in one of those two locations. FYI: I sometimes run my hunting macro while I sleep and at work. If you send me a message and I don't answer, that is why. Also, if you are interested in joining LoM, please check out our web page (yes, I need to update it): HERE and fill out the application. As a former BladeCorp (OOB) member, you are exempt from the 7/30 day recruitment process. All you have to do is: - Fill out the application - Create a Message Board Account Done- Get a Signature Block Uniform made
